The Special period in Cuba
In the text, Eulina wanted both her children to attend university but said many things aren’t possible in the current economic climate. I really wandered what the current economic climate is. Author described it was caused by special period. Therefore, I would describe the special period which I researched in detail. Then, my opinion about it would be stated as follows.
The special period (Spanish: Period especial en tiempo de paz) in Cuba was an extended period of economic crisis that began in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union and, by extension, the Comecon (Council for Mutual Economic Assistance).
