"Reikyu-sha" means a Japanese funeral car. It is used for carrying a dead body from a funeral hall or home to a crematory. Funeral cars have been used in other countries, too. But Japanese ones have some conspicuous characteristics and histories in comparison with the others.

 ln early stages of Taisho Era, the first reikyu-sha was introduced in Japan. In those days, people used cars imported from the U.S. or Europe as reikyu-sha. This type of cars is called "you-gata (Western style) reikyu-sha".
